[UPDATE: added install pics.]
I know this because it’s written on them for everyone to see and they are red.
Let me explain.
Wheel nuts. Lug nuts. What were you thinking, huh? It’s OK, I’m just busting some balls here, but it is true that my nuts are invincible. And why do I say that? Because the brand name of the lug nuts that just arrived today is Muteki, which is the Japanese word for Invincible (無敵). Well, the literal meaning of the two characters is No Enemy or Enemies, but what does it mean when you have no enemies that can harm you? Yup, you’re invincible.
Now, whether that’s true with regard to these lug nuts, we’ll just have to wait and see. For now, I’ll take their word for it. And why do I have red lug nuts in the first place? Because it’s getting near time to swap on my summer rims/tires and I wanted something much better than the plain chrome nuts that came with the rims when I bought them. They work just fine, but they’re boring as hell and also are kinda overly bright and detract from the overall look of the wheels by drawing too much attention to themselves. Last year when I put the rims on for the first time, I immediately noted to myself that for this year I want something more subdued, but still interesting. I had originally thought to just get some black nuts which would also look decent I feel, but then it hit me that red would look even better. Also, it would go well with the interior trim coloring of the BRZ, so here we are.
As far as the nuts themselves are concerned, they seem to be very well made and of pretty high quality. They also happen to come with wheel locks as well, which is a useful feature that I don’t have currently. The coloring is very even and pretty saturated. From what I’ve heard it’s a bit fragile though, and will eventually chip and flake from repeated use, but if that happens I can always re-spray them with a red clear coat and things will look fine again. For now though, I’m not going to worry too much.
Anyway, not much more to say about them, but I wanted to show you the first of this year’s mods. Once I put them on the car, I’ll add a photo so you can get the full effect. And since we’re speaking of mods, it won’t be much longer until I can show you some other things that are in the works at the moment and just waiting to be installed once the weather gets a bit better. I think you’ll like them both, but one is kinda unusual, so I think you like that one the most. We’ll find out shortly, so until then, all hail my invincible nuts!
5/4/24 – Finally got a chance to install my wheels and these nuts. Looking good I have to say.
