Hello friends, I hope you have been well. Today is just a simple quick-post to share a video I found recently, and I also wanted to say hi since it’s been a while. The video I have for you today is a top speed run of a stock GR86 going flat out on the autobahn. As you will see, our car’s top speed is 229 kph, or just a hair over 142 mph. That’s a limited speed and the max you’ll hit with the stock ECU tune. From what I’ve seen from doing a bit of research the top speed for the car is usually listed as around 135 mph, so the fact that you can squeak a bit more out of it makes me really happy, though I just don’t have anywhere safe around here to try it myself, sadly. Without the limit, I would bet you’d be able to hit 150 mph or so since there’s still a bit of revs left in the engine by the time the limiter kicks in, but I’ve not found any vids yet showing a tuned ’22+, so I’ll guesstimate for now. Either way, it’s still pretty fast for most needs, so not unhappy at all and now you know definitively what the car will do from the safety of your sofa.
Here’s the vid; if you have some time, check out their other vids as well. AutoTopNL is a great channel and fun to watch.
As for other news, the weather has finally been getting better and better here, so I’m hoping to be able to swap my summer tires back onto the car in a few weeks. We still are getting some chilly days that are a tad too cold for summers at the moment, but I suspect that won’t last much longer as it’s been a fairly mild winter.
I also have a few mods to install in the near future that I’m looking forward to sharing with you soon, so once they’re on the car you’ll be the first to know. Planned mods for this year that I’m thinking about now would be a set of wheels for my summers, a ducktail spoiler, some select and tasteful carbon fiber accents for the interior, possibly a set of JDM OEM GR86 red interior door panel inserts, and maybe some small random items I find over the course of the year. I also want to detail the car and give it a good post-winter once-over, so there’s that too. Add car shows and cruises to the mix, and it’s looking like it should be another fun year with the car. Sound fun? I hope so, and I’ll be sure to share everything that I possibly can with you, so keep an eye out! Bye for now.
