JDM 2023 Okuibuki Motor Park BRZ/GR86 Fan Meet

Hey! Hope you’ve been having a great summer so far. For my part, it’s been great to finally have some warm, clear weather to get out and drive around in as well to simply relax. It’s also car meet season, so coming across various cruises and shows has been enjoyable as well, though most in my area are more classic/hot rod oriented than anything import related. Unfortunately, the one cars ‘n coffee event that I went to regularly last year has been called off this year due to scheduling issues, but not much you can do about that as we all have lives apart from our cars.

With that said, I’ve been keeping an eye out online for vids that have been posted from our compatriots overseas in the Hachi-B’s home market and so as a result I have a couple of vids to share with you from some owners’ meets that have gone down recently. In both, you’ll see some really nice rides on display, both 1st and 2nd gen, which hopefully will give you an idea of the kinds of mods JDM owners are performing on their cars and thus you can get some new ideas on parts and stuff you may want to incorporate into your own builds. I personally enjoy seeing what people do with their cars in general, so I hope you will find the vids enjoyable as well, even if you may not understand Japanese.

Btw, if you’re wondering what the hell ‘Hachi-B’ is, it the Japanese equivalent to when we refer to our cars as the ‘Twins’ or ‘Toyobarus’, as the reference is solely used specifically for putting both makes together – ‘hachi’ means the number eight, from eighty-six, and ‘B’ is the B in BRZ, so literally ‘Eight-B’. The Japanese absolutely love to turn longer words and phrases into short, catchy terms that are easy to remember and say, even for everyday things like household items, names, book/TV/movie titles, and so on. Personally, I think ‘Hachi-B’ is easier to say than ‘Toyobaru’ or ‘Twins’, so if you think so as well or just find it cool, spread it around and then we can all join in on the fun.

In any case, here’s the first video for you. You’ll find the second one in a separate post of its own just so that I can give it its own title and make it easy to search for specifically. Have fun!
